Talking Women of the Dust - Colour

Colour was important to me in The Matriarch, the first book of my new series, or rather, the absence of it. It was critical that I show the death of a world was the death of colour. As the story progresses, and the full spectrum of colour is introduced, it was my goal to make it profound, sacred, monumental even.

Bringing this world to life was about more than just characters and scenes, it was about bringing the essence of what it means to be human to the forefront, and more importantly, what it means to be a woman in a world without colour.
